LightForm is the trading name for Kionnali Living Systems, a startup developing regenerative and resilient building technologies and integrated systems. We are working to reimagine the systems that sustain humanity. We build systems that take care of your basic needs, from shelter, to energy, to food and water, locally and regeneratively.
We’re combining all our systems into a modular home that deploys anywhere in minutes and provides everything you need to live, automatically, on or off grid. We call it the Roamstead. It is designed to adapt to weather patterns, lifestyle changes, and protect you during and after a disaster. You can learn more about it on our home page. We believe that access to basic needs is a human right. That’s why we're building technology to make a comfortable, safe, healthy life more accessible. Our vision is a global network of resilient, locally sustained communities.
Currently our team is composed of two founders and a boatload of advisors and partners. We (the founders) have both been studying sustainable and alternative housing for a combined 25 years, we’ve lived off grid in vans and boats and tiny houses, lived through fires, floods and hurricanes, and been around the world learning from leaders in regenerative housing.
Our concept has been proven. A feasibility simulation conducted by The Centre for Energy Transition at Aberdeen University found that our system can be 100% self-sustaining in any climate, with a 80% reduction in lifetime system cost and negative carbon emissions. A meta-analysis from a pHD student with the National Environmental Research Council and Edinburgh University found that our adaptable foundation and lightweight construction will significantly reduce impact from housing on compaction and soil biodiversity.
We are now full speed ahead on R&D. We are well into development of a hyper efficient biodegradable insulation panel in partnership with the Advanced Materials Research Lab at University of Strathclyde, funded by a Scottish Enterprise grant. We've have a functional app prototype and solid development plan for every system.
We have just been awarded the SMART Scotland grant to build a working prototype of our Integrated Energy System. This grant funds two full time positions. So we are looking for the first permanent additions to our team! We will be growing the team to 15-20 people over the next 9 months. Together we will build a full, functional demonstrator of the Roamstead and take it on a world tour. Over the next 5-8 years we will scale to full production of the worlds most accessible, sustainable, smart home and expand to North America and Europe.
We are building a team of passionate, creative doers. Together we are going to reimagine the systems that sustain humanity and improve peoples lives with tangible, concrete solutions.
Work should have a fulfilling purpose, and your company should have your back. Creating a fantastic place to work is our number one priority. We have been clear with our investors from the start that we expect to transition to employee ownership as soon as possible. No doubt about it, we will expect a lot of hard work at this early stage. But we intend to make it very worth it for everyone who joins us at this stage.
We are seeking team members who are versatile generalists, with a passion for learning, hands on experience as makers, and the ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment. Anyone with the skills to to execute ideas quickly and effectively will adapt to our team well. Our ideal candidate would be self-motivated, inquisitive, and comfortable working collaboratively as part of a diverse team.
We are growing quickly and we hope to find people excited to grow with us. If you think you might be a good fit, and more importantly, if you’re excited about the idea and perhaps can picture yourself living in a Roamstead one day, reach out!
