Natura Ex Machina

Kionnali's mission is to create a better business and society by prioritizing values like fairness, respect, and resilience. We plan to achieve this by offering affordable and sustainable mobile homes, called Roamsteads, which can help individuals and families become more independent and reconnect with their communities.

A Better Business

Our aim is to make Kionnali a standard for better business practices.

We are going to be paying everyone a living wage, capping executive salaries, providing schedules managed by each team, offering paid maternity and paternity leave, creating a safe working environment, and providing childcare. Our standard is based on the idea that hierarchy in a company does not determine the value of the individual. Regardless of one's role, everyone deserves to be treated as a valuable member of the team. Our personal goal is to create a more equitable and sustainable world. We believe that the current system can be improved by prioritizing the value of people over profits. Instead of tearing down the existing structures, we aim to build something better that is based on values like fairness, respect, and resilience. By using business as a tool, we hope to create a structure that supports our vision and empowers those who have been historically marginalized. We believe that our approach can help create a more just and inclusive economy.

A Better Society

  • We aim to empower people who may currently feel powerless by giving them control over their basic needs, such as food, water, shelter, warmth, and community. To achieve this, Kionnali plans to offer a rent-to-own program for Roamsteads, rather than long-term rentals, so that people can own their homes and have greater control over their living situation. We will provide flexible payment plans, based on a sliding scale, to ensure affordability. The Roamsteads will retain their value, and resources can be recycled, while the owners will have the option to sell their houses. This approach aims to break the cycle of toxic rent and empower people with greater agency over their living conditions.

  • When people's basic needs are met, they are not solely dependent on their job for survival. Therefore, companies that mistreat their employees will not be able to thrive. This concept is similar to Universal Basic Income, but it does not rely on government funding and ultimately gives people more control. It serves as a foundation for people to have more autonomy to choose to pursue employment for non-essential items, without relying on employment for basic needs.

  • Roamsteads and Hub Houses also contribute to a luxury-based economy. To clarify, a "luxury-based economy" is an economy in which everyone's basic needs are met, allowing individuals to participate in the economy only for their discretionary wants and desires, rather than for their essential needs. This creates a shift away from a need-based economy to a luxury-based economy, where individuals have more autonomy and freedom to choose how they allocate their resources. By providing for basic needs, inhabitants only need to participate in the market for things they want rather than things they need. Dwellers have control over their own resources and can sell them directly to others, giving them more flexibility in their economic choices. This system can provide a safety net for people who lose their jobs or are injured, as their basic needs are already accounted for.

  • By creating mobile homes that offer both independence and community, Kionnali can help individuals and families reconnect with their communities without sacrificing their individuality. This is made possible by the mobility and freedom of owning a home that takes care of basic needs and can travel with the owner. Families who wish to remain close to each other can live together in a HUB house, fostering a sense of community while still maintaining privacy. Kionnali also enables individuals with shared interests and skills to find each other and create communities. The mobility of these homes allows for seasonal work or spending time in multiple communities.

  • Providing stable housing through our Roamsteads can have a positive impact on vulnerable populations. We will offer affordable housing options on a sliding scale to make basic cost of living expenses more accessible. We will also create job opportunities for individuals to build and maintain the Roamsteads and engage with conservation efforts. Additionally, we plan to partner with organizations that offer mental health and substance use support.
